A global pharmaceutical leader operating in over 70 countries, delivering innovative therapies in oncology, urology, immunology, and rare diseases through advanced research and strategic collaborations.
However, its medical information portal, one of the primary channels for engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs), had not kept pace with evolving digital expectations. The company recognized the need to modernize its content supply chain to better support HCPs with quick, seamless access to reliable medical content at the point of need.
Limited Content Accessibility – Medical content was available exclusively in PDF format, requiring users to download documents before viewing. This created unnecessary friction in the content consumption journey, particularly for HCPs who needed quick access to specific answers. The static format also lacked search and navigation capabilities, resulting in a cumbersome user experience.
Overwhelming Long-form Documents – The existing content was typically lengthy and dense, requiring HCPs to manually sift through pages to find specific information. This slowed down decision-making, especially in time-sensitive clinical settings. The lack of modular, targeted content formats made the portal less user-friendly and reduced content engagement.
Manual, Inefficient Publishing Processes – Updating medical content was a labor-intensive process involving multiple teams, medical writers, regulatory reviewers, and digital operations. Each update cycle required back-and-forth coordination, manual formatting, and validations, which led to delays and increased the risk of inconsistencies or compliance issues. The fragmented process made it difficult to keep content current, which in turn eroded user trust.
To address these challenges, Indegene designed and deployed a fully automated content supply chain and publishing solution, tailored to meet the client's regulatory, operational, and user experience needs.
Introduction of Short-form, Digital-first Content – Indegene introduced a new content model, short-form responses or FAQs, that broke down long-form documents into modular, digestible answers. This format allowed HCPs to quickly find relevant information either directly on the portal or by downloading a concise PDF. It supported better engagement, improved mobile accessibility, and aligned with modern web content consumption behaviors.
Custom-Built Dynamic Converter – At the heart of the solution was Dynamic Converter, a bespoke automation engine. This tool was integrated with Vault Medical, the organization’s digital asset management system, to retrieve the latest approved documents. It then automatically extracted key information and converted it into a structured, machine-readable format. This eliminated manual content tagging and formatting while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Automated Content Transformation and Publishing Workflow – The structured content was transformed into fully formatted, responsive web pages within the organization’s CMS (Adobe Experience Manager). A preview environment allowed stakeholders to review and approve pages, with built-in synchronization to Vault Medical ensuring that only approved and up-to-date content went live on the website. Expired or outdated content was automatically retired, maintaining compliance and relevance. The publishing workflow required minimal manual intervention, drastically reducing turnaround times.
By automating the entire content supply chain across all of the organization’s brands, Indegene was able to significantly improve both the accessibility and user experience for HCPs using the medical information portal. The streamlined process enabled faster content delivery, easier navigation, and a more intuitive interface, making it much simpler for HCPs to find and engage with the information they need.
